One of my favorite condiments lately is this Sriracha Aioli. It’s so easy to put together with just few ingredients and can be used as a dipping sauce or condiment in burgers and sandwiches.

I love making a variety or dips and salsas, anything from this cilantro yogurt dip to this whipped cottage cheese dip with feta cheese. Then I switch it up with seasonal ingredients in this mango strawberry salsa. There’s nothing more comforting than a delicious bowl of yum to dip chips or veggies or pita bread in:).

How do you make this condiment?

I have a basic way of making sriracha aioli, then you can also use variations once you have the base recipe down.

The way I make this spicy dip is by mixing mayonnaise, sriracha, lime juice, garlic and salt. That’s it!! It’s just magical:).

How do you serve this spicy sauce?

In our house we serve this condiment on hot dogs, burgers, as a dip with tostones, french fries and yucca or as a topping for some grilled seafood and chicken. It’s really just a flavor enhancer, especially if you like dips and sauces.

I especially love tostones for dipping in this sauce since in between double frying them, they soak some garlic and salt already so there’s this complementation of flavors that happens with the dip.

During our 4th of July cookout, I also served this spicy sauce as one of many condiments on the table. A lot of people put it on hot dogs, but I noticed that plenty used it as a dip for the homemade potato chips.

    Tips

I highly suggest using a good quality mayonnaise. I prefer the ones made with olive oil.

Pro-Tip: Sriracha Aioli leftovers hold well in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3 days or so. However, the sauce becomes spicier as it stands so feel free to add more mayo, lime juice or even maple syrup to balance out the kick.

    Ingredients

    • 1.5 cups mayonnaise pick a good quality mayo, it will make a difference
    • 3 tbsp sriracha
    • 1 lime, juiced
    • 1 garlic clove
    • pinch sea salt

    Instructions

    • Add mayonnaise and sriracha to a bowl. Squeeze the lime and add the juice to the bowl. Use a garlic crusher to crush the garlic clove and add that as well as salt to the bowl.
    • Mix all ingredients together until you got a homogenous sauce. Alternatively, you can use a small food processor to mix the sauce.
    • Do a taste test, adjust for spice and salt accordingly. Store sauce in refrigerator until you're ready to serve. Enjoy:)

    Notes

    • Normally you can mix with just utensils and a bowl. If you have a food processor, you can use that too for mixing the sauce.
    • Adjust for spice according to you taste.
    • If you made the sauce too spicy, add a bit more mayo and lime juice to counteract the spice. Also, a little bit of maple syrup or honey can soften the kick too.
    • Sauce will naturally taste spicier as it stands (especially if you store it in the refrigerator overnight), so adjust for heat before serving again.

What is sriracha is what is it made of?

Sriracha is a popular hot chili sauce commercialized by an Vietnamese-Chinese immigrant in the United States. The origins of the sauce though are from the town of Si Racha in Thailand. Sriracha is made with a paste of chili peppers, vinegar, sugar, salt and garlic.

What is considered aioli in general?

Usually, traditional aioli is made with garlic and olive oil. Variations include added herbs or other sauces to emulsify together.

Is this condiment similar to a mayo sriracha sauce found at some fast food chains?

Similar yes, but not exactly the same. This recipes uses lime juice, salt and garlic on top of the mayonnaise and sriracha to make it a proper aioli.
