Mediterranean cuisine is very famous for its mezes or appetizers. Sometimes a whole meal can be put together with lots of appetizers like a charcuterie board with cheeses, cold cuts, qofte or kaftas, pickled vegetables, pitas, side salads etc. The experience is all about the combination of flavors rather than a single item on the board.
As I cook my dishes and get recipes ready to get published, I will try to put together some mezes as well so I can show examples of what foods can be put together.
See below a simple meal put together by some staples of Mediterranean cuisine: feta cheese, olives, bread. The side dishes were put together to showcase Tarator (a cold cucumber soup typical in Albania). I added a papaya fruit to the mix to emphasize once more our Mediterranean-Latin connection:)
